I was recently interviewing for a position and this question was asked. I was stumped. It didn’t have to be work or career related, and so I went ahead and talked about my experience coaching a youth soccer team and the tactics associated with it. The rest of the interview went by fine.
But it really stumped me. Not because I didn’t know what to say, but because a part of me feels like I should’ve had 3-4 more in-depth topics ready to go. I didn’t. And so I kept asking myself: when’s the last time I studied something in depth? When did I last go down a rabbit hole surrounding a topic that interested me instead interested others?
Studying sucked but studying only sucked because of the academic pressure that came along with it. Now I don’t have that and I’m thinking about what I want to dig deep into for fun.
